Post Doctorate Psychologist
Dr. Eran Barzilai is a post-doctoral psychologist at the Williamsburg Therapy Group. He provides both short and long-term psychotherapy for adults across the lifespan. He helps clients with a wide range of presenting complaints, including anxiety, depression, stressful life events, emotional regulation, as well as interpersonal and relationship distress.
Dr. Barzilai's approach is genuine, warm, and collaborative. He works from a relational psychodynamic framework and incorporates existential, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and harm-reduction principles and techniques as appropriate for each client. Dr. Barzilai's goal of treatment is to help clients develop a better understanding of their patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving which simultaneously helps to foster self- acceptance and reduce negative emotions, in addition to promoting work towards change by exploring and experimenting with new ways of being.
Dr. Barzilai plays an active role during therapy. He believes that successful psychotherapy relies on a strong working relationship between the client and therapist. Through active participation in the therapeutic process, use of humor, and curiosity, Dr. Barzilai provides a non-judgmental environment where clients can safely express their true selves.
Dr. Barzilai has provided clinical services in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient hospital programs, a substance abuse program, and the New School Student Health Services Counseling Center, where Dr. Barzilai also completed his pre-doctoral internship.
Dr. Barzilai received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York City. He conducts psychotherapy in English and Hebrew.
